Get amp’d up for Ampd.com on the auction block

The mobile phone company Amp’d Mobile filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on June 1, 2007. According to court documents, around 80,000 of its 175,000 subscribers were recorded as nonpaying customers. Bankruptcy protection was brought on by Verzison Wireless who threatened to cut off service to Amp’d whether debt owed to Verizon wasn’t paid. Amp’d Mobile together with its main creditor Kings Road Investment Ltd. sued Verizon Wireless, seeking a court order that barred Verizon from cutting off service to Amp’d Mobile from its network.

On June 22, 2007, an agreement was reached amoung Verizon, Amp’d and Kings Road to pay Verizon off with cash collateral and allow Amp’d the use of Verizon’s network. The settlement was heard in the US Bankruptcy Court on June 25, 2007. Ampd indicated an intent to sell off its assets.

Well they must of forgot or figured the domain name Ampd.com was not "worth" anything, considering they are letting it expire! I do not really think they intended to let it expire, but the e mail address on file techops@ampdmobile.com is dead, considering ampdmobile.com forwards to Ampd.com . Once a domain expires at Godaddy.com,

the domain name servers change, which would not allow the e mail address to work any longer. Amp’d would of got Several emails from Godaddy letting them know of the soon to expire domain before it expired, but clearly no action was taken. AmpdMobile.com is registered through 2011.

Amp’d Mobile stopped providing service to it’s customers on July 31, 2007.

The domain name Ampd.com is currently on auction (which Amp’d Mobile will not see a penny of for the sale) at TDNAM.com and will likely go in the five figure range IMO. At post, there was 7 days left in auction with a current bid of $955 on 23 bids. The domain name listing shows an estimate traffic to the domain of 2,455 monthly visitors. The auction ends 6-23-2008 at 9:00 AM PDT.

There are currently 2 LIVE trademarks for the term AMP’D as well as 3 LIVE trademarks for Amp’d Mobile. 1 for Amp’d Live, 1 for Amp’d Up and 1 for Ampd TV.
